A brave warrior and commander who fought under Chief Ndlambe during the wars of resistance against land dispossession.
BACKGROUND AND CONTEXT
The Amathole District Municipality: Heritage Section was established in 2003/04 financial year. Since then it has been involved in the identification of a series of programmes that are based on heritage resources management. Based on that, a Heritage Resources Management Strategy was developed with clear objectives and strategies.
It is through the Amathole District Municipality: Heritage Resources Management Strategy that a programme called Heritage Research and Collections that focuses on the recollection and repatriation of heritage property from foreign land, was also identified and included in our 2012/2013 Integrated Development Plan.
The strategic objective of the programme is to identify and facilitate repatriation of any heritage property whose original habitat is within the Amathole District Municipal jurisdiction.
